CHRISTCHURCH 32nd ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF FLOWERS
April 30th, May 1st and May 2nd 2022
After a break of two years, because of Covid, the Ladies Supper Club (now Ladies who Lunch) were able to resume the Festival, and it was again a wonderful occasion.
The theme this year was ‘Vive la Difference’ – Floral Contrast. The displays were stunning and reflected the theme and included Ups and Downs, Jungle and desert, Loud and quiet, Black and white, Town and country. The main communion area at the front of the church represented ‘Meekness and Majesty’ taken from the words of the Graham Kendrick hymn ‘O what a Mystery, Meekness and Majesty, bow down and worship. for this is your God’.
Then Festival also included a floral tribute to HM Queen Elizabeth 2nd on her Platinum Jubilee.
There were plenty of stalls with coffee and tea each day. Ploughman’s Lunches were available on Saturday and Monday and plenty of competitions to enjoy.
On the Sunday the service was conducted by Rev Clive Redknap, with a Songs of Praise in the afternoon led by Mrs Chris Cox.
It was a delight that well over 500 people came along and after all payments had been made the Ladies Supper Club were able to donate £250 to the Bexhill Community Bus Charity and £1650 to the church funds.
A really worthwhile and lovely weekend thoroughly enjoyed by the many folk from the church, who helped in so many ways, and by those who came to visit. We are grateful for all the support that we received. |
